PREFACE
It’s time to start saying goodbye to our race g-d and racialized identities; it’s time to activate critical thinking plus truth-telling skills to process and heal from skin tone bias.
Dear Brethren,
I grew up in a country that housed a brown-skinned population.
This country is the only place on Earth that I’ve ever felt like a human being created in the image of my loving G-d, because my skin color was just…a color.
Meaning, my color was not the center of my human identity.
Mind-blowing, I know.
When I eventually moved to the Segregated States of America, I was bizarrely told I was an imaginary “race.” And worse, adults who identified as Christians worshipped imaginary identities stemming from a lifeless race g-d.
As of this writing, it is 2024 A.D.
From the time I’ve spent studying U.S. history, it’s crystal clear that since 1776 A.D., our empty race g-d has harmed us more than it’s helped.
You know what’s more alarming?
Our skin tone bias cause more damage.
(In case you missed it, Exodus 20:3-6 is a terrifying reminder that putting an inanimate idol such as lighter skin tones, light eye colors or straighter hair textures above the living G-d is an extremely dangerous choice.)
Ego Crushing Opinion: It’s time to start saying goodbye to our race g-d and racialized identities; it’s time to activate critical thinking plus truth-telling skills to process and heal from skin tone bias.
(I’d rather you describe yourself using your actual complexion and your constructed culture(s) or your ancestral journeys as markers versus an imaginary race. That’s the compromise I’m willing to make in the twenty-first century.)
We are sinners (even though a lot of us want to believe we are sinless like Jesus Christ), so plenty of us will have acted out on our skin tone bias through self-segregation, treating people with lighter skin tones a little bit better, etc.
Many of us have an invalidation or moral superiority problem stemming from abuse, assault plus trauma, and that means our skin tone bias can be aggressive.
Also, our brains are running outdated software, and that means we need to accept that in the near future, bias will be the new race.
We need a massive upgrade.
If you’ve lived the whole of your life believing you are an imaginary “Asian,” “Black,” “Brown” or “White” race, then you’ll most likely disagree with my perspective, which is understandable.
Before you dismiss me, kindly consider that my mind, body and Soul have been digesting hate, humiliation and harm due to my pigmentation and phenotype since I was 10 years old; at 14 years old, I interviewed an individual via email who aligned himself with the Ku Klux Klan; unlike most hue-mans I’ve met, I’ve actually studied how race was invented, and by whom; I’ve conversed with individuals who’d qualify as so-called white supremacists; I’ve been complimented for my knowledge on the construct of race and racialization by two renowned sociologists; and, even though I have a master’s degree from what’s considered an “elite” graduate school in America, I’ve had highly respected professors suggest that I obtain a Ph.D. in sociology.
I’ve studied my surroundings and kept a close eye on the field of sociology for decades. I’ve seen several of my predictions regarding race come to pass within the last four years. And, I observe patterns of behavioral biases intensely, so I’m hyper-aware of how said patterns can impact perception plus policies within a decade.
All this nonsense to state, for some of you, it will not be challenging to perceive a darker-skinned woman with dark brown eyes and non-straight hair as an intelligent being who foresees the inevitable outcomes of racialization and deracialization.
Sadly, for many of you, it will be incredibly challenging to accept that I know what I’m talking about due to the biases programmed in your brain for decades.
Again, this is understandable due to society’s centuries-long conditioning regarding a fraudulent (and influential) concept called race, which then birthed phenotypic capitalism.
FYI, I’ve observed patterns linked to behavioral biases from beige-skinned persons for 30-plus years. And, more and more brown-skinned persons are adopting—versus internalizing—said biases.
These matters have earthly and eternal implications for professing Christians, and I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that this work is my unfortunate calling.
(I have prayed m-a-n-y times to be released from this work. Thus far, I haven’t gotten the green light.)
So, if you’re a Believer who wants to understand why it’s in your Soul’s best interest to bury your race g-d and your racialization g-d before you eventually leave this Earth, then this is the space for you.
When you want to reflect on your skin tone bias—and become aware of how our mass media machine propagates this bias—then you’re seeking to respect darker-skinned babies, toddlers, teenagers, young adults and adults whose dignities have been destroyed by a segment of the global population that prefers to host the destructive elephant in the room in perpetuity.
More importantly, when you’re crushing race-based constructs and breaking down biases, you’re going after the vision that G-d had in mind for all of us at the “marriage supper of the Lamb” (Revelation 19:6-9).
And so, to all of you who want to bring a slice of Heaven down to this brokenhearted Earth, I welcome you to Hope and Hardships.
Cheers,
Your highly melanated neighbor
